Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Vendor Alley Reader Poll – Sans IDX?

  1. (as always) Cutting right to the chase Greg 🙂

If we all remember that IDX is really just another name for Broker Reciprocity, I doubt many would argue that Broker Reciprocity disappear.

If REN takes over as a national facilitator of Internet Data eXchange and enforces the Broker Reciprocity rules effectively, a new set of standards (“renIDX”?) would emerge, but IDX would still exist.

If Zillow takes over as a national facilitator of (probably Agent Reciprocity), we’d probably call it zIDX.

If MLSs can continue to enforce Broker Reciprocity rules better at a local level and remain more accountable to local members (who are actually practicing real estate) it would probably continue to exist as IDX.

As an experienced IDX provider, I believe that real estate data is best managed at the local level…. but any of the standards above would work just fine for us, as long as the compliance rules are clear and enforced equitably by a trusted entity.
