“To start the collaboration, the two organizations will complete a data share agreement enabling them to explore the power of a larger, shared data set. Soon after, the companies will work to identify ways they can eliminate redundant technologies. Other key projects include exploring an enhanced user experience and a customer-facing website for both organizations.”
At first glance, this seems to be very similar to MLS Aligned organizations which comprise 7 MLS organizations (ARMLS, UtahRealEstate.com, MetroMLS, MLSListings, RMLS, NNRMLS, and Beaches MLS) representing about 150,000 members. Since CRMLS and Bright MLS are the two largest MLS organizations in the country they already represent over 200,000 members.
Having sat on the board of directors for ARMLS I have seen firsthand how these alliances can bear fruit.
Some may ask, “Why not form alliances with MLS organizations that are closer geographically?” The short answer is politics. And in the case of CRMLS and Bright MLS, they have such a large scale to get any real benefit they need to work with someone at the same scale as themselves.
