“A chartered accountant by trade, and the third generation of his family to be involved in real estate, Lorne founded Lone Wolf in 1989. Through a combination of passion, innovation, and sheer will, Lorne grew the company into the leading software provider for the residential real estate industry in North America. His vision for Lone Wolf guides us to this day.”
Lorne was a force of nature. He was an incredibly shrewd and talented businessman. Anyone who has been in this businesss long enough has a few “Lorne stories”, I have a couple myself. While our paths never crossed once W+R Studios was acquired by Lorne’s company, Lone Wolf (he had already left the business and board), I can see everyday the impact he made in people’s live. My greatest sympathies to his family and friends.
“Force of nature” – what a great description of Lorne. Thanks for this post, Greg. I am incredibly saddened by this news. He joins another “force of nature” who passed, my mentor and former boss Renwick Congdon, founder of Imprev, who introduced me to Lorne a decade ago. What a great soul, also leaving us way too soon.
Lorne was one of the very first people I met with I joined the industry 20 years ago. He taught me a ton and became a friend to always see at all the events. Hope his family knew how much he did for so many.
As the saying goes, they just dontt make them like Lorne and his generation of visionary, gutsy entrepreneurs. Lorne gave opportunities to so many young companies that built something really powerful and unique that the real estate industry needed. He rolled up a suite of tools second to none.
He was such a fun and passionate guy – always thinking about ways to help brokers be more profitable and relevant.
We were lucky enough to work with him and his great team on several projects over the years – Kim Koraca and so many others that helped him bring his vision to life.
We are really going to miss you my friend.
