Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Rick Trevino heads new RESO Workgroup to handle data payload standardization

rick trevinoNew RESO Workgroup Tackles Data Payload Standardization

“Rob Larson, head of the RESO Data Dictionary Workgroup and Chief Information Officer for CRMLS, remembers vividly that day. Initially, his Workgroup looked into the issue raised at the conference. “While the Data Dictionary Workgroup completed the first payload, IDX, it was clear that this could take away from the Workgroup’s primary function: the fields, lookups, data types, lengths and their definitions,” Larson said.
“Because a payload is a group of Dictionary fields — and the decision about which fields belong to a given payload is driven by business rules — having a Payload Workgroup focused on this goal helps keep the Dictionary Workgroup focused on its goals,” he added. Thus, the Payload Workgroup was created and Trevino was tapped to head up the new Payload Workgroup.”

MetroList Services, where Rick works, was the first MLS to be platinum certified. Rick may have to deal with some political issues here but setting standards are important. Congrats!

MetroList® and HomeSpotter® partner on RETS Data Dictionary 1.3

MetroList® and HomeSpotter® are the first MLS and vendor partnership to improve listing accuracy with RETS Data Dictionary 1.3

Ohan Antebian, Chief Strategy Officer, HomeSpotter:

“HomeSpotter® and MetroList® are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership, which is the first to utilize the new Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) Data Dictionary 1.3, to provide MetroList Subscribers and Sacramento-area home buyers with an industry leading mobile app.”

Well done! Good to see the work MetroList did with Rapattoni, being the first to implement RESO Data Dictionary 1.3, is getting some use.

I’m getting more and more optimistic on RESO efforts. Great to see vendors and MLS providers work together to make this happen. Congrats to Aaron and Ohan for reaching over 250,000 agents. Also Tom, Rick, and rest of the MetroList team for showing what’s possible.

Real Estate Standards Organization Announces Executive Director

“Mark Lesswing, RESO Board Chair stated: “Speaking on behalf of the RESO Board of Directors, we are thrilled that Mr. Crawford has agreed to join RESO as our new Executive Director. Jeremy has both the required skills and knowledge for the position as has been an active leader in the standards communities for many years. The next era of RESO is upon us.”

I gotta say this was a surprise. It’s gonna be great to see someone of Jeremy’s caliber taking over. Congrats to Jeremy, RESO, and the industry owes a big thank you to Bob Gottesman for paving the way and building RESO’s strong momentum.

Looking for a new gig?

RESO is looking for a new Executive Director.

“The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) and promulgation of its standards and products. The ED will act according to the guiding principles of RESO and take direction from the Board of Directors, fostering the coordination, development, implementation, compliance, marketing and training of RESO’s standards.”

Bob Gottesman leaving RESO as Executive Director

This is a bummer. RESO has made some giant steps since Bob step in to this role. Looks like RESO will begin searching for a replacement.

Gee, wouldn’t it be cool if there was a place you to post real estate industry related jobs? Oh wait, there is

MRIS Receives RESO’s First RETS 1.8 Certification

MRIS

“The RETS 1.8 Certification verifies that MRIS complies with the open standard for accessing and exchanging real estate transaction information with other organizations supportive of the RETS 1.8 Standard. MRIS originally created a unique method of updating new listing information via RETS, which is a piece of the contribution MRIS has made to the launch of the new certification. “

To be honest I’ve stopped following a lot of what RESO is doing. Seems like they are picking up some steam now. And I believe we (W&R Studios) are going to be stepping up our involvement as well.

RESO gaining momentum

Rebecca Jensen
Rebecca Jensen
RESO, RESO, RESO, seems that’s all I’ve been hearing lately. And its a good thing. Rebecca Jensen (RESO Chair and CEO of UtahRealEstate.com) has done a fantastic job of getting RESO out of its slump and moving the organization forward.
Bob Gottesman
Bob Gottesman
Part of that was the hiring of Bob Gottesman as Executive Director back in May. Having someone focused on the effort has been key. If you want to get caught up on what RESO is up to I would check out Matt Cohen’s Real Estate Technology Blog Fall Meeting recap.

Craig Cheatham
Craig Cheatham
Recently the appointments of Craig Cheatham, CEO of The Realty Alliance, and now Alon Chaver, a VP at Trulia. has also served to keep this momentum going.

Alon Chaver

I also would recommend their Facebook page, it seems to be kept more up to date than their website at http://RESO.org

Incoming RESO Chair Art Carter certainly has some big shoes (Jessica Simpson?) to fill and keep this ball rolling. No pressure.

RESO seeks Executive Director

RESO Executive Director Position

“The Board of Directors of the Real Estate Standards Organization (www.rets.org) announces the imediate availability of the Executive Director of our standards making organization.

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) and promulgation of its products, including the Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS).”

So in a nutshell: RESO needs ED for RETS ASAP. : )

Also, in case you’re wondering, here’s a link to the definition of “promulgation“. You’re welcome.
