Where Real Estate Gets Its Dirt

Rayse rising

Rayse Launches to 200 Brokerages, Transforming Transparency and Value in Real Estate Transactions

“Developed in collaboration with leading brokerages, franchisors, and multiple listing service (MLS) providers, Rayse has garnered significant industry support. “We believe in shared ownership of technology solutions to benefit both real estate professionals and their clients,” said Howard W. “Hoby” Hanna IV, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, an early investor in Rayse. Founding investors in Rayse completed over 1.1 million transactions in 2023, and the combined agent count among brokers and MLSs is over 470,000, according to data provided by T3 Sixty.”

What I appreciate about what James Dwiggins has so far done with Rayse is the shear number of industry participants who have invested real money to launch this new venture. The count of industry investors he has put together is amazing. It lessens the burden of having to rely on one or two big checks and also has the advantage of smart money. If you take a look at the list of people/companies that have invested they are the same people that can actively participate in helping the company succeed. And when Rayse does succeed they all can participate in its success. Love, love love.

RentSpree delivers 10 million in non-dues revenue to MLS partners

RentSpree Delivers $10 Million in Revenue for MLS Partners

“Our goal is aways to support MLSs and their members,” said Michael Lucarelli, CEO and co-founder of RentSpree. “That means we don’t charge MLSs or agents for our proprietary rental integration. The real key to driving successes like this is in providing great products that gain significant adoption. Earnings come as a byproduct of delivering solutions that address real problems.”

$10 million is legit!

Welp, I guess it’s official now. There are still many questions surrounding this deal. Including some brought up by the Notorious one.

Acquisition

A working agent’s perspective on the current state of organized real estate- Maggie Etheridge, REALTOR.

I sat down with a long-time friend and former business partner, Maggie Etheridge. Maggie was one of my co-founders at IRIS, a real estate software company we started back in 1992. She is a second-generation real estate agent. Maggie’s mom, Martie, was the inspiration for starting a software company focused on real estate and is likely the reason I have a career today.

This episode began from a series of texts between Maggie and me about her thoughts on NAR, the lawsuits, exclusive listings, and what the pundits are getting wrong. It was a great conversation and a huge reality check for me, making me rethink some of my previous assumptions. It was a discussion that could have gone on for hours; somehow, I think we’ll have to have her on as a guest again.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week. The rumors are true, I will NOT be doing the Industry Update this year (thought I would leave on top). However, I am the last presenter on Wednesday and will do my best to make it worth you staying till the end.

Industry Relations Podcast: CCP Musings

On this episode of Industry Relations Rob and Greg discuss, for what seems to be the 17th time, the current rumors about the Clear Cooperation Policy. Rob recently posted a few thoughts on the subject and a few solutions to what seems to have the entire industry tied up in knots.  What they soon realize, there are no easy answers.

Listing Bits Episode 93: Real estate data, myths and cowboy boots with Kevin Shtofman of Cherre

Listing Bits is back with a great guest, Kevin Shtofman, Global Head of Innovation at Cherre. Cherre is a global real estate data management platform. Kevin is from Texas and comes from a very entrepreneurial family that owned retail stores selling western wear, including honest-to-goodness cowboy boots! Yee-haw! Kevin talks about his journey from Wall Street back to Dallas and Cherre. It’s a great conversation where we dive into the breadth of real estate data available now, housing affordability, real estate myths, and the changing vendor landscape. Kevin is a super smart guy, and I found this conversation very insightful—I know you will too.

It’s time to Reset

I wanted Vendor Alley readers to be the first to know that the PRESTA team is partnering with my company, Giant Steps, to put on a conference next year. We’re calling it MLS Reset.

When Amy and Chris reached out to us with the idea, I was a little hesitant. Do we really need another conference? But the more we talked, the more excited I got about the opportunity.

We are holding the conference in January 2025, which we think is the perfect time for MLS executives to reflect on the changes that happened in 2024 and reset for a productive new year. We also chose a familiar place for the event: the Scottsdale Plaza Resort.

Our goal is to create something special. It’s still early days, but we’re buzzing with ideas! I hope you will join us.

We’ve set up an Eventbrite page for early bird pricing, and sponsorship information will be coming soon (we will be launching a full website soon). Space at the Scottsdale Plaza is limited, so please sign up early.

For more information and to buy tickets, please visit this link: MLS Reset.
